VoxelMap
What is it?
VoxelMap is a client-side plugin which gives the player a map of the in-game world. It is filled in continually as you explore, you can create markers to remember places etc. Many players on the Finite Frontier use it as their preferred mapping system.
You can see some examples of VoxelMap maps here.
Multi-world setup
VoxelMap can behave a bit strangely on a multi-world server. It needs help keeping track of which world is which, so as to not overwrite the map of one world with data from another.
The plugin will ask you to name the world you are currently in but unless you do this correctly, it will continue to nag you about it indefinitely.
The key thing is to use one name per world (rather than oen name per dimension), but you have to set this name once in every dimension.
Here is how to configure it properly:
Chose one name for each world. For example, if you are in the world called the Frontier, you can use the name "Frontier".
Visit the overworld. Tell VoxelMap you are in "Frontier".
Visit the nether. Tell VoxelMap you are in "Frontier".
Visit the end. Tell VoxelMap you are in "Frontier".
That's it!
Do the same thing for each world, e.g. the Ship, the Sketchpad etc. Whenever you visit a new dimension, tell VoxelMap the name of the world.
After doing this VoxelMap will not be confused. It will not say "Unknown world!" but instead "Detected world: ..." when you switch between worlds or dimensions.
Tips and tricks
- To see a larger part of the world at a time (which makes the map much more useful), open VoxelMap and go to Options > Worldmap. Set the slider called Min Zoom to the lowest possible value.
